APM Celebrates Early Childhood Education, Welcomes North Philadelphia Favorite Los Bomberos De La Calle at Next Sugar Cane Festival Month Event

WHAT: Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha’s (APM) Sugar Cane Festival – a beloved summer tradition for Latino Philadelphia – is back this year as Sugar Cane Festival Month. The celebration features a slate of in-person and virtual events honoring Latino music, culture and community throughout all of August. Every Wednesday, APM highlights one of the many social services programs it offers, along with a virtual performance.

The next event focuses on Early Childhood Education, an area in which APM has become a leader in supporting children, parents and families with non-English speakers or special needs in Philadelphia. With preschool enrollment in progress at its four learning centers, APM continues to always prioritize the safety of their families, requiring masks and social distancing in all classrooms.

Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena music group Los Bomberos De La Calle – known widely throughout North Philadelphia – will bring the entertainment and joy rooted in Puerto Rican families for generations.

The month-long celebration also includes weekly giveaways and a raffle with prizes ranging from $50 to $100. Events can be viewed at apmphila.org/about-apm/sugar-cane-festival/ and @APMForEveryone on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
