Featuring our first Dominoes Tournament!
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Asociación Puertorriqueňos En Marcha (APM), a Latino community and economic development nonprofit, announces the 19TH Sugar Cane Festival! The annual celebration is bigger and better this year, filling three blocks of live entertainment and featuring the first Dominoes Tournament where participants can win cash prizes! We will also have the Music of Crespo, Grupo Hipnosis, Chamo & De La Musik, Los Bomberos de la Calle, and Los Dominantes! We will also have Health Screenings, a Children’s play area, and great food!
Moderating the event, we welcome Lorraine Ballard Morrill, Director of News and Community Affairs, iHeartmedia Markets Group, and longtime friend of the Sugar Cane Festival Ilia Garcia, News Director and Anchor, Univision 65.
The Festival honors the historic significance of the sugarcane crop for generations of Puerto Ricans and recognizes the sugarcane workers who migrated from the Island to Philadelphia to work in the refinery. We will again have Pavas and sugarcane to hand out to Festival attendees. Come early to get yours!
The Festival is free and open to the public.
When: June 10, 2023
When: 6th Street and Germantown Avenue
Time: 12 pm – 4 pm
