Evidence Based Practice
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
The Penn Beck Community Initiative (Penn BCI) is a collaborative effort led by the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, aimed at providing cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) training to clinicians in community behavioral health. APM had the privilege of engaging in this esteemed training program, and learning from internationally recognized experts. We now have over 20 clinicians who are CBT certified, offering services in both English and Spanish to members of our community.
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)
Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) is a specific type of therapy designed to help individuals with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Clinicians at APM received training in PE from the world renowned treatment research center, Center for the treatment and study of anxiety at Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Our PE team has been successfully providing PE to our participants diagnosed with trauma since 2018 and the results have been very rewarding!
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT)
TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment that helps children, adolescents and their parents/ caregivers overcome the negative effects of trauma—such as post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression—and build resilience. APM successfully enrolled in this training program in 2024 provided by the Philadelphia Alliance for Child Trauma Services (PACTS), and our clinicians have been receiving training since then. We are now providing these valuable services to young participants who could benefit from TF-CBT.
At APM we provide CBT, PE and TF-CBT is English and Spanish.
