WHAT:
Over the course of its 50 years, Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha (APM) has become a leader in helping foster and adoptive families build a strong foundation for success with programs that guide them through life’s challenges and needs.
To celebrate those 50 years, APM is hosting a four-part Speaker Series that convenes thought leaders and experts to discuss issues that are central to the social services organization. The final event in the series features Elizabeth Smart, child safety activist and best-selling author.
Smart will participate in a fireside chat, “In Conversation with Elizabeth Smart,” where she will share her story about how being an abduction survivor at age 14 inspired her to become an advocate for stronger child protective services. She will also join a panel discussion involving other well-known local experts about childhood trauma and the added stressors Covid-19 has put on the child welfare system and home. Those who donate $50 to APM will be invited to a 30-minute virtual VIP “meet and greet” with Ms. Smart following the panel.
