Camino de Oro

Coming soon, a 44-unit senior housing development in Eastern North Philadelphia

Slated to open in Fall 2022, its name, meaning Golden Walk, honors grandparents, seniors, and past generations—those who built the foundation of so many of the families we serve.

Construction of Camino De Oro, an approximately 40,860 square foot senior housing facility, began in January 2022. The building will provide affordable housing and affirming amenities to aging adults, including one- and two-bedroom floorplans and green space for gardening and activities for the residents and surrounding community.

The three-story structure will house 44 affordable units—38 one-bedroom and six (6) two-bedroom apartments. On-site will be the leasing office, a laundry facility, and a community room available to residents and members of the neighborhood. Six units total will be fully-ADA accessible.

Residents will be 62 years of age or older with incomes at or below 60 percent of the median area income (AMI). Ten percent of the units are reserved for households with incomes at or below 20 percent of the area median.

Referrals will come from the Philadelphia Housing & Homeless Service’s Clearing House, Liberty Housing Development Corporation, Inglis House, and various other local services providers for individuals with disabilities.

The project was made possible with the help of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Housing and Community Development, and the Construction Cost Relief Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. Elon Development Company, Inc. is the development partner.
